Molded Collimating Lenses

Due to advances in chalcogenide glass, the molding of IR optics has been made possible allowing high performance aspheric optics to be produced quickly, at low cost without traditional diamond turning or lengthy polishing methods. These molded aspheric lenses are ideal for collimating light from sources such as mid-wavelength infrared (MWIR) and long-wavelength infrared (LWIR) lasers, including Quantum Cascade Lasers (QCLs). The lenses high numerical apertures allow for such maximum light collection, which facilitates the use of a single lens to provide high quality infrared beams for sensing and analytical measurements opposed to complex, multiple component optical systems.
